The membership of the Student Union requires enrollment to the university and paying the membership fee. By paying the fee, you get all the student services and benefits in the city. For both doctoral and exchange students membership fee is voluntary to pay. <\/strong>Please note that all the student discounts are not eligible for doctoral students (see more information below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paying the fee<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The enrollment and the payment of the Student Union membership fee for degree students is <\/strong>done via OILI <\/a>Service. More information on the enrollment can be found on the university\u2019s website . <\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exchange students <\/span>can join the student union by visiting us at the F-wing service point.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you have paid the fee, you can get the new semester sticker for your student card from LYY\u2019s office or LYY\u2019s campus service desk at the F-wing. In case you use a digital student card, you don\u2019t have to get the sticker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fee is paid every year. The amounts of the fee for the study year 2024-2025 are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Degree & exchange students <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Full academic year 59,00 euros  
Fall semester 29,00 euros
Spring semester 30,00 euros  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exchange students can pay the membership fee either directly at the customer service point (at the University’s F-wing or at LYY’s Office at Ahkiomaantie 23 B) or via bank-transfer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can pay the membership fee straight to LYY from a non-Finnish bank account account with the following information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note <\/strong>that if you pay via bank-transfer, you need to send the receipt and your student number to lyy@lyy.fi for registration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By buying the membership fee doctoral students will get many student discounts in Finland but they are not eligible for YTHS Services. Starting this yer, postgraduate students get discount on train and bus tickets provided they have a student card<\/a>. The fee return policy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Student Union membership fee can be returned in certain cases. Whether the Student Union returns the fee for the whole study year or for one semester on the situation of the student applying for the return of the fee. A person who has paid their fee AND graduates before 1st of August  will be returned the amount of the whole fee. If one has paid the fee for the study year within the registration time and they graduate during the fall semester, they will be paid the fee for the spring semester. A person who has paid the fee within the registration time and then announced to be absent also within the registration time will be paid the fee back for the time they are absent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do as follows:  

1. Print and fill the application for refund of membership-fee. Take the application with the attachments to the University of Lapland student services<\/a> , where the missing parts of the application file will be filled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
